Oh My!

I've just been in to the bathroom and I can't believe my eyes. Steve bought some bars of soap today. Nothing out of the ordinary there. What took me by surprise was ...he has unwrapped them and put them in my little soap display tray thing that I keep at the end of the bath, along with the bath bubbly and candles.
I've know that man for 11 years and he can still surprise.
What I do know though he won't be pleased when he reads this blog. Mr Robbo has his street cred to think about.

Little Treat.

Today I met Steve after work in Southend. We had a drink in the Slug and Lettuce. Then we went across the road to Subway and shared a veggie sub.It doesn't sound much but it was such a treat just to do something a little bit different during the week.

Falling

I fell down like a ton of bricks today. I was leaving work, so I had a spring in my step, and the next thing I know I was lying on my side, assuring concerned bystanders that I was ok. I was a bit scared of walking after that.
Falling over reminded me of learning to ride a bike. I must have been about 4. This was in the 70s so they're weren't any safety precautions like helmets. I can remember crashing off the bike and just getting back on. I don't ever remember being scared, although Dad said after one fall I kicked the bike and shouted "That bike is a fidget!" Aah how cute was I?
I learnt to roller skate on "roller boots". This was the early 80s. I don't remember falling over much. I used to be able to do circles and skate backwards. Then Angela broke her arm really badly and I completely lost my nerve.
The last time I fell over I was walking the dogs down a - well hill is a huge exaggeration- a slope but better describe it. One second I was at the top, next second I was on my bum with two concerned dogs, dog breathing all over my face. I don't think they fell with me, they just trotted a bit faster. In fact both dogs were "Let's do that again!"
Anyway my right thigh is sore and I think they'll be a big bruise there tomorrow.

Rehomed greyhounds

Germaine Greer has a greyhound for a pet and she wrote this
I wish she hadn't written it. It is hard enough for greyhounds to be re homed as it is. Greyhounds don't need great big gardens and they don't need massively long walks. It is a shame some one who might be interested in having a retired greyhound for a pet may be put off by this article.

Unexpected Kindness

My train season ticket stopped working on Monday. Because I got the ticket through work (it is the most expensive thing I own apart from the house!)I have to get a letter from Human Resources. That I can't find on the system, not that I've had much spare time at work. its not such a big deal as the station people let you through the barrier ok. I think they are used to the tickets not working.
This evening as I got to my home station, I called through to the ticket lady to be let through. She is a bit scary. I've seen her take no sh!t from customers. Anyhow she lets me through.
Scary ticket lady: Come here and I'll replace your ticket.
Me: You can't I have to get a letter from HR
Scary lady: I don't care I'll change it for you.

See even when she being nice there is a twinge of scariness. Any how she changed my ticket, no fuss. She was the last person I expected to bend the rules or go out of her way to help. Still a bit scared of her though.

I don't understand....

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU INTEND TO READ/ARE READING "THE RIGHTEOUS MEN" BY SAM BOURNE

I MEAN IT.....DON'T COME MOANING TO ME

ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO READ FURTHER?

HERE IT IS......

At the end Will mentions that the world only now has one righteous man, and he isn't in a position to good works yet. The Rabbi replies that they would be righteous men going about their business now, the moment has passed the group has been replaced. So if this Righteous Men have a Slayer-like ability to replace a vacancy caused by death.....what was the worry?

Blue

The littlest Dude ate so much of the special Tardis cake icing, his poo turned blue. He had Tardis poo!
I got soaked to the skin coming home from the station. Not in a sexy "oooh my shirt has gone all see thru and my clothes might all fall off and my hair is all so wet and wild" way. No in "my anorak is sticking to me, my feet are wet through my boots, my hair is plastered flat to my head and I can't see anything through my glasses " way.

Biccies.

On Saturday Steve bought a huge box of broken biscuits for £2.99. This evening he opened it. OMG- it is like we died and gone to biccy heaven. Chocolate fingers, malted milk, digestives, bourbons, caramels, cookies. And they're not really broken- more like chipped round the edges. Mmmmmnnnn.

I'd just like to say...

....Am I the only one who doesn't like blogs with soundtracks? It just seems so invasive. Isn't it enough that I'm reading the blog?

Dogs

Steve showed me a picture of a retired greyhound looking for a home. She is mostly black with some white bits and she is 3 years old. The description says that she is timid around people and really needs a home that has a male greyhound. She is very good around other dogs. She sounds perfect.
BUT we due to go away in March. And one dog is easier (and cheaper than two)than two.....and we still haven't repaired the damage Penny did to the hall way. But still...I told Steve to stop showing me dogs if he's not sure that he wants another dog. heck I'm not even sure I want another dog. She did seem perfect though.

Sick

Friday did not start well. Work up feeling sick, got ready for work anyway and after a couple of trips to the loo went to the station. Got to station and had "an episode" at the ladies there. Decided to get on the train, still felt very unwell , got off after 2 stops and got the train home. Went back to bed and was amazed when I resurfaced 4 1/2 hours later. Still felt sick but felt a lot better. So ANOTHER day off work AAARRRGGGH.
Felt a lot better Saturday and feel fine today. Hopefully all the lurgy-ness has gone now.

Wednesday

When we got in from work, Tom had peed up against the hallway radiator. Steve cleaned it up with bleach. Tom rarely "lets himself down" but it was up against the rad and we've got the heating on. This made the smell worse and the hall way smelt a strange mixture of bleach and dog pee. Not pleasant.
This morning my day started by mainly going to the toilet - so to make it to work with out disgracing myself I took some Imodium. That will be me for a week now - that is some strong stuff. Fun times at RobboWorld!

Bobby

A little while ago I did a post about Bobby. I'm really glad I did because Bobby died today. I'll miss his noisy twitterings. He was the first Robbo pet.

Stuff about me.

I don't make New Year's resolutions. I know that there are a lot of things I could/should improve about myself. I find it very easy to be hard on myself and think of how an ideal Gina should be. However I'm going to write down all the things I like about myself. I am one of God's little Sunbeams after all.
1. Although a queeny bitch once said that I'm not as funny as I think I am:I do think I have a marvellous sense of humour and MY jokes do make ME laugh.
2. I try to make people comfortable. I'm thoughtful like that.
3. I pride myself on being a good judge of character-most of the time.
4. I've a lot of general knowledge and "get" a lot of references in films and books. Which I then point out to the person sitting next to me.
5. If the wind is blowing in the right direction, I am kind.
6. I'm a good listener. This may backfire on the talker as I will say "But you said..."
7. A hairdresser once told me that I handle my "problem" hair very well. And I actually said "thanks" to that. Then I thought but I haven't got problem hair..I like my hair.
8. I like my hands, especially my finger nails.
9. I'm lucky. I have got a supportive, loving family. A great husband and good friends.

04 January, 2008

Friday

Back to work today after having the lurgy. Actually still have lurgy-ness but am bravely battling on. Voice still not back to its dulcet lovely tones. Also have lurgy spots around my nostrils. And I'm still getting bogeys. Oh Yuk I hate having a bogey nose. Yuk YUK YUK. And according to Mr Robbo I'm snoring. He reckons that I must be really tired as the terrific snoring isn't waking me up.
Watched Blood Ties last night. It finishes next week. I really hope that they are going to make another series as I'm really enjoying it. At first I first it was a bit X files but with a vampire and only kept watching because I loved the books. Then I warmed more to the series and stopped comparing it to the books. The actors make the whole thing believable and the chemistry is good. However Henry never showed any sign of an English accent, even in the flash backs - but I'm over that now.

Good Clean Fun - That's Me.

How do you rate?

Sober

Look its New Years Day , I'm up early and I haven't got a hangover. Young Gina would never have thought that was possible.
So far this year:
I haven't eaten
I haven't bathed
I haven't cleaned my teeth
My marriage is celibate (perhaps it has something to do with the first 2 on my list)
I haven't even had a cup of tea.
Still I've only been up for half an hour.
One thing I have done already I'm afraid is swear. I stubbed my toe on the bed. Ouch!

Still haven't got my voice back. When will the misery end?
