Still reading Gods of America, and -I was right, it is similar to The Stand. G of A deals with the old faiths/gods being forgotten and dying in the face of the new gods -technology. The Stand is about old fashioned values (family, making do, faith) versus technology (nuclear weapons, consumerism.)
Am liking G of A, but not gripped by a need to know what happens. I'm quite happy to read it at lunchtimes. Whereas if I loved it I would have read it by now. I guess I'm not that bothered about what happens to Shadow.
